Note: Written for [livejournal.com profile] barefootpuddles' Literary Drabble Challenge, a camp [livejournal.com profile] sick_wilson activity.
Prompt/Summary: You can tell how fragile a boy is by how ferociously he fights over autonomy (from "Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Lives of Boys")
Rating: general (I am so proud of myself). ETA Possibly PG for mention of drinking and driving (thank you barefootpuddles!)
Word Count: 100.

House opened his eyes: the hospital room looked as every day of the past week, except for the visitor.

“Good morning.”

“How did you find me?”

“I googled your name. The accident made it into the local news.”

”The sooner you finish your lecture about drinking and driving, the sooner you can go back to Princeton. I don’t need you here.”

That was a blatant lie: he would be discharged soon and couldn't afford a nurse. Nevertheless, Wilson nodded, and House finally noticed the deep lines pain and worry had etched on his face.

“I’m here because I need you.”

Perfect little picture of their fairly twisted relationship.

I think WIlson is saying the truth, for a change. But twisted, they are. Glad you found it right.

I'm pretty sure they need eachother and he's bullshitting out of pride.

I totally agree. As the prompt said, it's just that in this moment House is more fragile than Wilson is.

Wow, a g rated story, you should be proud (though drinking and driving would earn it a PG in the US in a movie. I hope I didn't burst your happiness bubble though. ;P)

I love the little ending twist. I do think Wilson has become the needy one. I hope in season 8 they continue with that theme and don't let Wilson's emotional state drop from their storyline.

I think Wilson always was the needy one, emotionally, but since Sam dumped him he's been blatantly so. I'm not holding my breath for S8, though.

Glad you liked Wilson's admission, and thank you for the rating help!

Lovely little drabble - very IC that House would keep trying to push Wilson away, and Wilson would be the needy one. Very nice!

Sometimes the prompt forces me to be IC. I was lucky with that.
Thank you for your comment!

Thank you for reading, and hope your heart has recovered. Truth always hurts a bit.
Special thanks for finding that the drabble matches the prompt.

Lovely little drabble. There's definitely a mutual need there, whether House wants to admit it or not.

The need is there, loud and clear. House will be able to admit it when he's no longer fragile, if ever.

Thank you for reading and commenting!

Aawww, how sweet!

I never thought I'd put THAT in a comment to one of your stories! ;)

Thank you so much (I should have put sweetness among the warnings, LOL).

I spend wayyy too much time online looking at strange images :). I believe I was just using the terms "medical" and "skull" to find this one. Grab away if you'd like!

I try not to grab away other people's icons, but this is really awesome..

This is a beautiful little piece! And it resonates 'If you die, I'm alone.' so perfectly!
