Yes. My kids know i write fanfiction. My teen daughter knows I write some slash and amazingly she met a girl at her university who it turns out has read a bunch of my Harry potter fanfcition and has me on her 'favorite authors' list. Weird huh?
My older son understands that I help mod House/Wilson but I don't think he knows I slash them, though he knows what slash is. I think he either hasn't put 2 and 2 together or he prefers to pretend he doesn't know what I write. My youngest knows I write fanfiction but doesn't think in terms of pairings much yet.
Oldest son is a totally science/math kid. This year's camp is really a summer program for high school students at a university, and he is studying "Neuro Plasticity". Last year he spent the summer studying "Tumor Cell Modeling". It's not thanks to me though, he was born this way. My other two are very different. My girl loves literature and art and my younger son is obsessed with history and politics and economics. I think all you can do is develop their interests, you can't change them.

Thank you so much for writing that. I gave up any attempt to change my kids once I noticed how different from each other the twins are.
I'm sure my kids will eventually find out (one of them likes to sit on my lap and he already asked "Who is Wilson?" Luckily he can't read English. Yet.)
So far my kids are very good at school but they're so young it's too early to say. I keep hoping that with two mathematician parents at least one will have inherited the gift, but if not I'll live with it. It's just... it's a great life :).
