Doing Nothing Is Hard
Summary: "Power wears out those who don't have it". Wilson is powerless: a drabble.
Rating: gen.
Spoilers: not very explicit for S7.
Word Count: 100.
Note: includes Sekret Woid #5 Stress.
Disclaimer: as usual.
Wilson's back hurt. He tried to find a comfortable position, but couldn't, despite his wrist being finally healed. Sarah jumped away from his chest, bothered by his restlessness.
His life really sucked recently: work was exhausting, he got heartburn from anything spicy, his migraines kept flaring up.
His psychotherapist had diagnosed stress and suggested resigning from Head of Oncology.
Wilson got up, tried to stretch a bit, toyed with the idea of playing squash again. Indeed, there was no more reason not to.
He looked at his stress’ source. Silent on the bedside table, his cellphone seemed to mock him.

Was that intended or am I reading into this something you hadn't intended? I could imagine a little bitterness being there for Wilson. It's a simple example of everything he has sacrificed over the years for his friendship with House (in this case, giving up activities that House caouldn't do post-infarction so House wouldn't feel bad) for apparently nothing; House deserted him and Wilson is alone, not knowing if House is even still alive.
Brava!

That the therapist suggested he give up his job... when he only has that left is depressing.

And liked the note of bitterness when he contemplates that there's no reason why he shouldn't take up squash again.
Nice little piece!
