I like the way it seemed that House was trying to convince himself that he was merely doing it for the shock value
I think he started it without really knowing were he was heading to, and got carried away by his own imagination (and Wilson's reaction, too).
Foreman seemed so under-used in S7 (just being the friend-of-Taub wasn't enough): I stole the idea of him becoming Dean from (I think) justjuly4, and I think he really gets House (and more Wilson then he's willing to acknowledge).
