I think some recovery is possible, if unlikely. I read a lot about this in the wake of the shooting of the American Congresswoman, and it seems that whether and how much any specific person can recover is difficult to estimate ahead. The desire to move from a static to a dynamic situation is what made me expand the original one-shot.
